About Me
Problem Solver, Designer, Architect, Developer, Builder
I am a Software Designer/Architect/Developer/Founder @ Sharp Solutions
This is the part where I’m supposed to use platitudes to convince you that I am amazing. I don’t like platitudes. So, allow me instead to pull out my soap box for a minute and tell you what I think I am.
What do you call the person who built your house? Most people would answer “a builder.” We don’t break these builders into styles. There isn’t a Victorian Home Builder, a Mid-Century Modern Home Builder, a Saltbox Colonial Home Builder, etc. Nor, do we label home builders by their building materials. He is a brick home builder, and she is a clapboard home builder. Yes, all of these styles are different. Yes, a builder might have to learn a few new concepts if they have never built a Victorian Farmhouse. But if you’ve hired the right builder, they can build you just about any home you want.
A home builder understands all of the things we don’t want to know. We are focused on our home as a whole. We don’t sit and think about each of the hundreds of building materials that go into our home. That is why we have a builder. That person must know not just all of the materials for your house but also the materials you can choose from. The builder must also understand what materials are compatible with other materials. If you ask your builder to construct a home with mismatched materials, it is the builder’s responsibility not only to recognize the issue but also to explain the issue and offer alternative solutions.
The software industry doesn’t have the title “Builder.” I have had the titles “Software Developer,” “Software Engineer,” “Solutions Developer,” “Enterprise Architect” and “Senior IT Architect.” I have informally been referred to as a “Developer,” “Programmer” and “Architect.” But never a builder. Yet, that is what best describes my talents.
I build, and just like your home builder can instantly visualize the layout and general materials list for a brick Ranch Style; I can do the same for a loyalty system, an e-commerce site, a single page website to manage disparate work flows, or even how to couple your customer data across all of those legacy systems you've acquired. Any problem you are having with your existing systems, I can handle. Because I'm a builder.
Testimonials
"...a solid foundation in software development and design, an ability and desire to understand the specific business problems and the business context for the solution, and a good ability to communicate across the spectrum..."

"Anyone engaging Dan for a project or bringing him onto their team will congratulate themselves on their good judgment."

"Daniel has that unique ability to see the core issue/problem and identify the right solution not just the coolest latest buzz word solution but one that stands the test of time."

Services

Design
The first step in building any system is design. No amount of process or quality control can make up for bad design. For more than 15 years I have been designing large, stable production systems.

Web
The best way to promote yourself is with a website. Single page sites to e-commerce, I build them all.

Mobile
Increase your user engagement with a mobile app. Location services, push notifications and more.

API
Give your clients access to your existing system and increase your revenue. Or maybe you need a new backend system? I can do both.
